    Wild 16U AA visits Michigan

By Houston Wild 02/19/2017, 12:15pm CST

The first weekend in February the Wild 16U AA team took a trip to Michigan. They had a five game sweep, with one overtime win and one come from behind win. The boys enjoyed a trip to the head quarters and original location of Perani’s Hockey World in Flint, MI. They played a game at the Leggett Prep School arena in Grosse Point, which is the home of the Illich family. They also got an academic tour of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University campuses. The 16U AA boys attended the 17U and 18U USA National Development Team Program practices, on and off ice, along with a tour of the facility, locker room, classroom, video room, and weight room in the underground off-ice complex, which was all given by Danton Cole, the Head Coach of the 17U USA development team.  The Wild 16U AA team participated in a charity event in Lansing benefitting a player with Leukemia. The team presented the player with a signed Wild jersey because he collects NHL jerseys. They played a game at the Dort Federal Arena after attending an OHL game between the Flint Firebirds and Kitchener Rangers. The boys played a game at the St. Clair Shores ice arena, home of Mark Wells from the 1980 Olympic team. The Wilds 16U AA played a game at Munn ice arena, home of the Michigan State Spartans and where the boys’ coach, Bobby Reynolds, played in college. While visiting Michigan State University, they ate lunch at Brody Hall, the largest non military cafeteria, attended a MSU vs. Wisconsin game, toured the MSU hockey facility, locker room, class room, video room, weight room, and players lounge which was given by Jason Muzzati, an ex NHL player and college coach. It was a fun and successful experience for all involved.
