2017 Spring Development Clinic

Spring Clinic Registration Now Open!

As always, the Houston Wild’s Spring Development Clinic is open to all Houston-area hockey players, however we do recommend that participants have at least 2 seasons of playing experience at either the house/rec or travel level.
 
You may REGISTER ONLINE by clicking the button to the right.  SPACE IS LIMITED, so early registration is encouraged.  
 

Please note:

  • Players must register in accordance with their USAH 2017-18 age division.  We expect all age division clinics will be full, so no play-ups or play-downs will be permitted.
  • In accordance with USAH/TAHA Mite ADM Policy, we are unable to accept any 2009 birth year or younger players.

CLINIC FORMAT

The Houston Wild is pleased to offer this year’s Spring Development Clinic, which will commence on Sunday, April 9th and be completed Sunday, June 4th.
 
To support and develop each player's hockey potential, twice-weekly clinics will include a minimum of 17 hours of ice time for both goalies and skaters at each age division.   These sessions will offer high-level training and instruction in a fast-paced environment focused on skill development. 
 
The clinic format will include stations and small area games plus full-ice drills developing the following skills and more:
  • Overspeed and agility skating
  • Stickhandling, passing, and shooting
  • Checking (14U, 16U & 18U), angling, and battling
  • Defense and creative offense
  • 3 on 3 pond hockey

GUEST INSTRUCTORS - JOE BONNETT & RICH HANSEN

The Houston Wild Hockey Club is excited to announce that JOE BONNETTUSA Hockey ADM Manager (Rocky Mountain & Pacific Region) and RICH HANSEN, USA HOCKEY ADM Manager (Atlantic & New York Regions) will be joining us from Colorado Springs, CO, to act as a Guest Instructors at our Spring Clinic sessions on May 6th and 7th!
 
To give our clinic participants plenty of quality instruction time with Coaches Bonnett & Hansen, we've ADDED the following Saturday, May 6th ice times to our regular weekend clinic schedule (all May 6th sessions will be held at Bellerive Ice Center):
 
10U/SQUIRT – 10:25 -11:35 am
12U/PEE WEE – 11:45 am - 12:55 pm
14U/BANTAM – 2:15-3:30 pm
16U & 18U/MIDGET – 3:40 - 4:55 pm

GOALIE SESSIONS

Our dedicated goalie sessions will be led by our team of Goalie Coaches, all committed to the development of net-minders.  These clinics, divided into separate 10U/12U and 14U/16U/18U sessions (16 goalies max/session), will offer hands-on goalie instruction by incorporating unique goalie coaching tools and techniques, while providing individual attention specific to the goalies' ages & skill levels.
 
Spring Clinic Goalie registration fee (below) includes participation in all age-specific sessions AND the dedicated goalie sessions.

10U/Squirt clinics: Wednesdays (BIC) & Sundays (WB), plus Thursday sessions on April 20th and May 18th (BIC)
12U/PeeWee clinics: Wednesdays (BIC) & Sundays (WB), plus Thursday sessions on May 4th and June 1st (BIC)
14U/Bantam clinics: Tuesdays (MC) & Sundays (WB), plus Thursday sessions on May 4th and June 1st (BIC)
16U & 18U/Midget clinics: Tuesdays (MC) & Sundays (WB), plus Thursday sessions on April 20th and May 18th (BIC)
Goalie clinics (all age divisions): Thursdays (BIC) April 13 & 27, May 11 & 25
 
Please note that no clinics will be held on Mother's Day or the Memorial Day weekend.

CLINIC REMINDERS

Please note:
  •  Each player will be responsible for bringing his/her own water supply/bottle.
  • Players may wear any jersey of choice but are asked to have both a WHITE and DARK colored jersey available for scrimmages, etc.
  • Goalies, you are a very important part of each of the clinics and play an integral role to the success of the clinic.  Lead coaches will format drills to incorporate BOTH goalies and skaters.  In the event you are unable to attend clinic, please email us at clinics@houstonwildhockey.com so we may plan accordingly.
  • Players must register in accordance with their USAH 2017-18 age division.  We expect all age division clinics will be full, so no play-ups or play-downs will be permitted.

FEE STRUCTURE

The 2017 fee structure is as follows:
 
  • Squirt ('07/'08) - $250
  • PeeWee ('05/'06) - $250
  • Bantam ('03/'04) - $275
  • Midget ('99 through '02) - $275
  • Goalies ('99/'08) - $150
There will be NO additional processing fees upon your online payment.  No refunds or pro-rated fees shall be permitted except in the event of a clinic-ending injury.
